Nicknamed “Birdy” by her parents when she was just a baby, the young Jasmine Van Den Bogaerde is approaching her artistic maturity although she is just in her twenties. She is growing much faster than other members of her generation. Daughter of a pianist and a writer, she has the artistic sensitivity in her veins. This, coupled with a natural talent for composition and lyrics, a mature and unusual inner world and a prodigious voice, makes her one of the names to follow in the present and future pop scene.
Although she has been composing since she was eight, her first big moment came when she was 12, when she won the Open Mic UK talent contest. Soon after that, she dared to show her own compositions. She released her first single at the age of 14, a cover of Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love”, a track that topped British charts and reached number one in countries like Holland. The next natural step was the release of her first album, which came in 2011 with “Birdy”, and reached the number one in Australia, Belgium and, again, the Netherlands. Her presence in the media multiplied and her videos were seen by millions. She was still 15 years old.
With the song “Wings” as a presentation, in 2013 she published her second LP, “Fire Within”. And in January 2016 she launched “Beatiful Lies”. In addition, her songs appeared in the soundtracks of blockbusters like “The Hunger Games” or “Brave”.
Her intimate, lively and always exciting style, her pop-folk and her indie attitude arrive in Barcelona in the perfect timing to be discovered by an audience who is eager for new talents.
