JARABE DE PALO
20 years on the road
It was 20 years ago when Jarabe de Palo, the band led by Pau Donés, started its career with the super-success “La Flaca” (1996), a song for which the Catalan singer and composer found inspiration in Cuba. They had come up with a formula where rock was softened through Latin rhythms. It was the promising beginning of a musical adventure that would leave unforgettable songs like “Depende”, “Grita”, “Agua”, “Bonito” or “Déjame vivir”. In 2017 they celebrate two decades of experience, with the full line-up playing the songs that have maked its career, with its warm, strong pop.
After he turned 50 -or “50 palos”, as his last album and tour stands-, Pau Donés doesn’t give up despite the illness he is fighting against. Far from hiding or interrupting his career, he comes back stronger, if possible, on the stage. With more vitality than ever, he is going to give fans an evening of music in which, from hit to hit, he will take us back to the end of the 90s. In this show, they will play the masterpieces of their eleven album discography, in which conceptual works are mixed with lively and happy songs, some of them with a more calmed tempo and some others with rock textures; different styles that converge in one idea: Donés songs are always an ode to life.
This summer, there is a new opportunity to live the moment many had been waiting for months: to see Donés again on stage. He will be accompanied by Jarabe de Palo’s members: Alex Tenas on drums, Jimmy Jenks Jiménez on sax, Jaime Burgos on keyboards, David Muñoz on guitar and Jordi Vericat on bass.
