One of the greatest light tenors of all times

The Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Flórez inherited art from his family. His father played guitar for Chabuca Granda. His professional debut took place in 1996, when he was 23 years old, performing Rossini, with a very impressive result. Not long after he was already performing at the Scala de Milano theater.

His fast career followed singing Gluck, Bellini, Donizett or Puccini´s operas, or “The Barber From Seville” by his beloved Rossini. In 2001 he signed up with Decca, where he´s releasing concerts such as “Rossini arias” or “Una furtiva lacrima”, and compilations such as the one that has the enlightening title “Bel Canto Espectacular”.

Plácido Domingo says he´s the greatest light tenor. Pavarotti also declared that he could be his successor.  These praises are addressed to a beautiful voice that reaches two octaves and impresses with his mastering of the canto nuances, specifically in the coloratura technique.
